Bespoke RTK survey multirotor for an independent operator

A custom-built, Part 102-ready survey multirotor — airframe, RTK/PPK positioning, 61 MP mapping sensor and mission SOPs — delivered to a growing survey operator.

◇ Challenge

Off-the-shelf platforms either lacked endurance for the operator's paddock-scale jobs or locked them into a closed ecosystem with no repairability in Northland.

◇ Approach

Helix designed and built the airframe around the operator's sensor, integrated a multi-band RTK/PPK receiver, tuned flight controller and power system for 45-minute endurance, and wrote the maintenance and mission SOPs for their exposition.

◇ Outcome

Operator flying commercially within six weeks of commissioning, with field-serviceable parts and a maintenance schedule accepted into their Part 102 exposition.
